On 21 June at the Estadio BBVA, Tunisia – who face elimination from the tournament should they lose – will take on the Japanese national team, dubbed the ‘dark horse’.

Three of the five goals Tunisia conceded in their match against Sweden were scored from outside the penalty area.
In the national team’s last five competitive matches, both sides have scored one goal each.
Tunisia, it seems, has no new injury concerns.
Japan national football team
The “Blue Samurai” put in a very creditable performance against the Netherlands, a traditional contender for the tournament title. Hajime Moriyasu’s side displayed considerable confidence in attack.
Japan have scored six of their last seven goals after half-time. It is also worth noting that, since March 2023, the Asian side have not drawn two consecutive matches after 90 minutes.
Takefusa Kubo is out with a knee injury sustained in the match against the Netherlands.
Tunisia v Japan preview
A win is vital for the Tunisian national team, as a defeat would effectively end their chances of progressing from the group.
At the same time, the Japanese are far stronger across the board. The Asian side must deliver in attack, as they may not get another chance if things go wrong.
