All the matches in the first round of the Women’s Volleyball Nations League have been played. The opening matches took place in China on 3 and 4 June. A total of 18 teams took part in the competition.
The Ukrainian national volleyball team made its tournament debut in a match against the US national team. The ‘blue and yellows’ lost in three sets.
The Italians, the reigning champions, faced Bulgaria, who finished 13th last year. They defeated their opponents in three sets.
The Brazilian team, who won silver last season, got off to a winning start. Their match against the Netherlands national team ended 3-1.
Poland, the bronze medallists of the 2025 Nations League, secured a victory over Belgium in a five-set match. Japan, who finished fourth in last year’s competition, managed to defeat the French team.

Four teams managed to secure 3–0 victories after the first round. Ukraine, given these results, sits bottom of the table.
