“AT&T Stadium” in Arlington will host the Jordan and Argentina national teams on 28 June. Neither side has anything left to play for, but the world champions will still be playing to uphold their status.

Jordan national football team

Jordan, currently ranked 63rd in the FIFA world rankings, put in a decent performance in their first World Cup appearance, despite suffering two defeats. The team had already been eliminated from the tournament ahead of their final Group J match at the 2026 World Cup. However, the side managed by Moroccan coach Jamal Sellami could make history if they play in Texas against the reigning world champions – Argentina.

In six of Jordan’s last seven matches, both teams have scored. In five of their last seven matches, more than 3.5 goals were scored.

Jordan’s goalscorer in the match against Algeria, Nizar Al-Rashdan, could catch the Argentines off guard early on, as his last three goals in international matches were the opening goals in each of those fixtures.

Argentina national football team

Argentina have kept a clean sheet in eight of their last nine matches. In their last eleven matches, the world champions’ final score has always matched the half-time score.

The ‘White and Blues’ continue to put on a marvellous display. The team have proven themselves worthy of the world champions’ title and deservedly beat France in the 2022 final.

Lionel Messi continues to play with confidence; he never seems to tire of breaking records and now has the chance to become the first player to score in seven consecutive World Cup matches. With his goal-scoring prowess and energy on the pitch, he is proving once again that he is arguably the greatest footballer in history.

Christian Romero’s availability for Argentina is in doubt, having been substituted due to injury in the match against Austria.

Jordan v Argentina prediction

Jordan will go down in history as the lowest-ranked team ever to beat the reigning world champions at the World Cup, should this happen. The chances of such a result are slim.

The reigning champions are playing ruthlessly, so an Argentina win combined with over 2.5 goals in the match is the logical choice.

Main bet – Over 2.5 goals

Score – 0–4
