The Conference League final between Crystal Palace and Rayo Vallecano will take place in Leipzig on 27 May. The teams are of somewhat different calibres, but both are fully capable of victory.

Crystal Palace

Oliver Glasner’s side go into the season’s big match as favourites. The English team have had a strong campaign in the tournament, proving to be the highest-scoring side. Ismail Sarre is considered the main attacking threat alongside Jean-Philippe Mateta.

The “Glassers’” attack can be described as their strongest unit. It is the strikers and attacking midfielders who deliver results for the club.

The Londoners, despite a disappointing end to the Premier League season, are determined to triumph in the European competition.

Rayo Vallecano

The Spanish club has exceeded all expectations this season by reaching the Conference League final. The ‘Bees’ finished the La Liga season in eighth place in the Spanish league table, but now have the chance to surpass all their previous achievements.

Iñigo Pérez’s side go into the final on the back of a nine-match unbeaten run across all competitions. The team boasts several attacking players capable of turning the tide of a match at any moment.

Alemao, Álvaro García and Izi Palazón are particularly dangerous in attack. Each of these players has often single-handedly decided the outcome of a match, even though the Spaniards do not possess the same squad depth as their opponents.

Crystal Palace v Rayo Vallecano preview

It is clear that the English side are the favourites for this match. That said, it is unlikely to be a walk in the park.

The Spanish side will build their play from the back and hope to score.

It is unlikely that we will see a high-scoring game, as teams in finals traditionally play too cautiously, both in defence and attack.
