The situation in Group K is entirely predictable. The Portuguese, for whom expectations are always set too high, are failing to perform to their usual standard at the World Cup.
The Colombia national football team
The Latin American side leads Group K, which was, after all, fairly predictable for many analysts. The main task for the Colombians now is to secure top spot in the group.
In six of Colombia’s last eight matches, more than 2.5 goals have been scored. The team, managed by Argentine coach Néstor Lorenzo, consistently scores late in matches. In four of their last five matches, this has happened after the 75th minute.
Daniel Muñoz has scored in the first two matches. He is aiming to become only the second Colombian to have scored in all three group stage matches of a World Cup.
The Portugal national football team
Cristiano Ronaldo did not get off to a great start in the World Cup. Following the draw with Congo, he came in for a barrage of criticism, as the star footballer failed to make his mark or score any goals. A significant number of fans claimed that he was simply wandering around the pitch and doing nothing.
In their most recent match, Portugal beat Uzbekistan 5–0. Ronaldo redeemed himself in that game, scoring two goals.
In three of Portugal’s last four matches, both teams have scored. The side have conceded just one goal in the second half across their last eight matches.
Colombia v Portugal prediction
Colombia are likely to field almost their strongest line-up, whilst Portugal are once again forced to do without Tomás Araújo.
Matches involving these two teams usually produce plenty of goals, so a bet on over 2.5 goals looks like a good value bet.
