The Ukrainian Cup final between Chernihiv and Dynamo Kyiv will take place on 20 May at the Arena Lviv.
FC Chernihiv
The Chernihiv players, who compete in the Ukrainian First League, have managed to achieve significant success. However, the club reached the Cup final by beating a series of fairly straightforward opponents. Valeriy Chorny’s side saw off Metalist 1925, Mariupol’s Phoenix, Lisne, Kryvbas and Atlet.
It is worth noting that in the First League, the team is 13th in the table, with a goal difference of 28:31. Against the backdrop of such less-than-impressive results, reaching the Ukrainian Cup final is a fantastic achievement.
Dynamo Kyiv
The flagship of Ukrainian football has frankly flopped this season. Setbacks in European competitions have long been the norm, and their performances in the Ukrainian league are failing to deliver the desired results. For the first time in history, the Kyiv club may fail to finish in the top three and qualify for European competitions.
The ‘blue and whites’ have seen no positive changes for decades.
In this match, however, it is Igor Kostyuk’s side that are the favourites. When results are poor, the players score more than two goals, but if the opposition put up a fight, we can expect lacklustre performances in attack.

Interesting fact
On the eve of the Ukrainian Cup final, Andriy Yarmolenko, a striker for the Kyiv club, was presented with a personalised shirt from Chernihiv, the team against whom Dynamo will compete for the trophy.
Chernihiv is Yarmolenko’s hometown; it was there that he began his football career.
