The Ukrainian weightlifting team achieved a historic success by finishing among the top five teams in the medal table at the 2026 European Championships.
The performances of the Ukrainian athletes yielded a significant number of medals, cementing the country’s position among the leading weightlifting nations, reports Sport Bet.
The team’s first success came courtesy of Kateryna Malashchuk, who competed in the under-48kg weight category. She won three medals at once: a silver and two bronze, demonstrating consistency and strong results.
Kamila Konotop was the undisputed star of the tournament. In the under-58kg category, she won three gold medals — for the snatch, the clean and jerk, and the total. In the same category, Olga Ivzhenko took silver, adding another medal to the team’s tally.
Iryna Dombrovska, competing in the under-77kg category, also made a significant contribution, adding three bronze medals to the team’s tally in the snatch, clean and jerk, and total.
Vladyslav Prylypko and Svitlana Moskvina rounded off Ukraine’s list of medallists. Vladyslav finished third in the clean and jerk in the over 110 kg weight category with a lift of 231 kg, whilst Svitlana took a similar place in the snatch among athletes in the up to 63 kg weight category, lifting 98 kg.
Final medal table for Euro 2026:
1. Armenia: 9 gold, 8 silver, 7 bronze — 24 medals in total
2. Bulgaria: 6 gold, 5 silver, 3 bronze — 14 medals in total
3. Turkey: 4 gold, 3 silver, 9 bronze — 16 medals in total
4. Great Britain: 4 gold
