Fiorentina secured a crucial victory against Verona, narrowly beating their opponents 1–0. Much of the credit for this result goes to goalkeeper David de Gea, who came to the team’s rescue on several occasions, whilst the decisive goal in the 82nd minute was scored by Nicolo Fagioli.
The visitors started the game more actively and could have opened the scoring right from the start. Fagioli struck a powerful volley, but the ball hit the crossbar. In response, Verona also had several promising chances, but De Gea confidently saved the opponents’ shots, demonstrating his skill.
After the break, the hosts stepped up the pressure, creating more and more chances in front of Fiorentina’s goal, but their attacks failed to yield the desired result. Instead, the visitors managed to capitalise on one of their rare chances: Jack Harrison played a precise pass to Fagioli, who scored from inside the penalty area to secure victory for his team.
The final minutes of the match were tense and full of emotion. In the end, the referee sent off Albert Gudmundsson and Tomáš Suslov for unsporting behaviour.
As a reminder, on 3 April, Chernihiv played a home match against the First League leaders, Bukovyna from Chernivtsi, as part of the 21st round. Despite the home side’s best efforts, the match ended in a narrow 0–1 victory for the visitors.
