The Ukrainian quartet consisting of Dmytro Pidruchnyi, Vitalii Mandzyn, Olena Horodna, and Oleksandra Merkushyna took eighth place in the mixed relay. This race was the first event of the current biathlon tournament, according to Sport Bet.
Thanks to the men’s precise work, Mandzyn passed the baton to Gorodnaya in sixth place, just half a minute behind the leaders. Only Dmytro Pidruchnyi made mistakes in the standing shooting. The captain of the Ukrainian team needed three extra cartridges. Despite the difficulties at the second shooting range, our biathlete managed to avoid a penalty lap and continue the race.
Although the women’s team showed quite good shooting, the Ukrainian biathletes, unfortunately, proved unable to climb higher than eighth place.
The gold medals in the mixed relay were won by the French team consisting of Eric Perrot, Quentin Fillon Maillet, Lu Jeanmonot, and Julie Simon. The top three were rounded out by the teams from Italy and Germany, which won silver and bronze, respectively.
