The World Cup stage in Rupolding, Germany, began with relay races. The Ukrainian women’s team finished the race in fourteenth place. The men took over the baton — following the women, the ‘blue and yellows’ took to the start of their team race, according to Sport Bet.
Unlike the team that represented Ukraine in the relay in Oberhof, the ‘yellow-blue’ team in Rupolding was slightly different, but the changes were minor: instead of Anton Dudchenko, Taras Lesyuk will run the first stage — the athlete returned to the team after missing the previous stage of the competition.
Results of the men’s race in Germany: how the Ukrainian men’s team coped with shooting and speed
The start of the men’s relay was not easy for Ukraine: Lesyuk finished his stage in 22nd place (+1:41.5). His prone shooting was ‘clean’, but he had problems with his standing shooting — he needed three extra cartridges.
Vitaliy Mandzyn was able to improve the result of the ‘blue and yellows’, gaining two positions at the end of the second stage. The athlete used two extra cartridges, overtaking the Moldovans and Romanians.
Bogdan Borkovskyi, who took the baton third, impressed with his speed on the track, clocking the seventh fastest time on his lap. This pace allowed the Ukrainian biathlete to gain one position before the start of the shooting. However, his performance at the shooting ranges was less confident: after using three spare rounds, Bohdan was unable to climb higher and handed over to Dmytro Pidruchnyi in twentieth place.
The final stage began at a fast pace for Pidruchnyi. The captain of the ‘blue and yellows’ showed the second fastest time on the lap, losing only to the fastest Campbell Wright (9.8 seconds). Pidruchnyi left the last shooting range in 19th place, closing the first shooting with two spare cartridges and the second with three. Dmytro managed to make up two more positions on the lap and finish seventeenth.
