The Ukrainian biathlon team took part in the men’s pursuit race at the World Cup stage held in Hochfilzen (Austria). Among our biathletes, Vitaliy Mandzyn showed the best results, although he made one mistake at each of the last two firing ranges. As a result, the athlete finished 26th.
It should be noted that Mandzyn is our only biathlete who finished in the scoring zone of the World Cup individual races in the 2025/26 season. At the same time, other Ukrainian athletes — Dmytro Pidruchnyi, Bohdan Borkovskyi and Bohdan Tsymbal — failed to make it into the scoring zone, finishing outside the top 40.
The first winner of the season was Frenchman Eric Perrot, who overtook sprint leader Tommaso Giacomel at the third shooting range and then managed to hold on to the gold medal in the final shooting.
At the first shooting range, our team demonstrated high accuracy: three out of four biathletes shot without misses, only Bohdan Borkovsky made one mistake. Ukrainian athletes improved their starting positions.
In particular, Vitaliy Mandzyn moved up to 23rd place, and Dmytro Pidruchnyi, having gained 17 positions at once, came out of the shooting in 31st place. At the third shooting range, Mandzyn lost three positions due to a mistake, and at the last shooting, he missed one shot. Nevertheless, due to the failures of his rivals, the biathlete moved up to 24th place.
