The Ontario Hockey League has suspended Luke Dragushitsa for the rest of the season for assaulting an opponent The OHL has suspended Brampton Steelheads player Luke Dragusica has been suspended for the remainder of the regular season and playoffs after striking Oshawa Generals defenceman Brady Blazeg with a double-handed blow to the head during a game on 14 November.
The two players collided behind the net, and after Dragusica got up, he swung his stick at Blazek’s head, causing him to fall to the ice. Luke then stole the puck from Blazek while he was lying on the ice.
The Oshawa Generals defenceman suffered a cut and was treated by the trainer. The player left the ice on his own but did not return. Blazek appeared in the next game on 16 November.
The OHL stated that Dragusica’s suspension came after a comprehensive review of the incident by the OHL Player Safety Department, which included video footage, game reports, interviews and materials from both clubs. The deliberate use of a stick as a weapon against an opponent’s head, followed by contact with a defenceless player, is unacceptable and, more importantly, dangerous behaviour that has no place in the OHL.
As part of this sanction, Dragusica will be required to complete a mandatory education, counselling and community service programme. In addition, the player will appear before the Reinstatement Committee before he is eligible to apply for reinstatement for the 2026-2027 season.
