Ukrainian footballer Roman Olegovich Yaremchuk was born on 27 November 1995 in Lviv.

He started playing football at an early age, joining the Karpaty football club school. The first person to recognise Yaremchuk’s talent was Soviet and Ukrainian footballer Mykola Ivanovich Dudarenko. It was he who put the future football star in the position of striker.

Eleven-year-old Roman transferred to the Dynamo Academy (Kyiv) and a year later made his debut in the Children’s and Youth Football League for Dynamo, playing in a match against Yunist (Chernihiv). In this match, the youngster immediately scored twice. In his debut season in the Children’s and Youth Football League, Yaremchuk scored ten goals for Dynamo in 21 matches.

Breakthrough

The 2011/2012 season was a breakthrough for Yaremchuk: he scored 21 goals in 21 matches.

The culmination was the match against Moscow’s Spartak in honour of Dynamo’s 85th anniversary, where 16-year-old Roman started the rout of the opponent (4:1 victory). Given his brilliant play, Dynamo’s coaching staff invited the talented footballer to join Dynamo-2 before completing his studies at the Academy.

Career

After graduating from the Dynamo Academy in the summer of 2012, Roman Yaremchuk quickly made a name for himself in the youth teams, becoming the top scorer in the first Ukrainian U-19 championship (16 goals in 18 matches in the 2012/13 season).

Thanks to his successful performances, Roman moved to Dynamo-2 in the First League, where he made his professional debut in July 2013, and later returned to the U-21 youth team, where he scored 14 goals in 16 matches in the first half of the 2015/16 season.

He made his debut for the first team on 1 March 2016 in the Ukrainian Cup quarter-final against Oleksandriya (1:1).

In 2016, Yaremchuk was loaned to Oleksandriya, but at the end of the same year, he returned to the Blue and Whites. While playing for Oleksandriya, in the 13th round of the Ukrainian Championship against Vorskla, Roman scored the fastest goal in the history of the tournament — in the eighth second (the match ended in a 2:2 draw).

At the end of the summer of 2017, Roman Yaremchuk moved to Belgian club Gent.

His performances for this football club were quite successful. In particular, in early November 2020, Yaremchuk scored his first hat-trick. On 17 December 2020, after scoring a goal in his 100th match for the club in the Belgian championship, he entered the top ten scorers in the history of the Belgian club.

At the end of July 2021, Yaremchuk joined Lisbon’s Benfica.

Belgian club Bruges signed a contract with Yaremchuk in August 2022.
In the summer of 2023, the Ukrainian footballer will be loaned to Valencia. In 2025, the footballer will play for Greek club Olympiacos.
