The battle for the final spot in the ATP Finals 2025 is entering the home stretch – the fate of the last qualification will be decided at the competition in Athens.

Every year, the eight best tennis players of the season – Grand Slam champions or the highest-ranked players – compete in the ATP Finals. Seven finalists have already been determined: Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev, Ben Shelton, Taylor Fritz and Alex de Minaur.

The last ticket to Turin: who’s in the game

At the start of the Masters in Paris, Lorenzo Musetti had a chance to make it into the top eight, but after losing to his compatriot Lorenzo Sonego, his position weakened.

Felix Auger-Aliassime, Alexander Bublik, Daniil Medvedev and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina remained among the contenders, but after the end of the tournament, the real battle came down to Auger-Aliassime and Musetti.

The Canadian overtook the Italian thanks to reaching the final of the Paris Masters, where he lost to Jannik Sinner. Now the points ranking looks like this:

• 8. Felix Auger-Aliassime (Canada) – 3845
• 9. Lorenzo Musetti (Italy) – 3685

The ATP 250 tournament in Athens will be decisive. Musetti has registered for this competition and will only receive a ticket to the Final Tournament if he wins – the title will bring him 250 points. Reaching the final this time will not give him enough points to overtake the Canadian.

‘Shadow joker’ in the fight for qualification ‘Shadow joker’ in the fight for qualification Another factor adds to the intrigue – the participation of Novak Djokovic. The Serb will play in the Greek capital, as his family owns the rights to host the tournament.

If Djokovic and Musetti meet in the final, the result of their match could directly influence who gets the last spot in Turin.

The 38-year-old Djokovic has won the ATP Finals seven times, which is a record in history, and qualified for this year’s tournament after the stages in Basel and Vienna.

Elina Svitolina showed confident play, advancing to the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000 tournament in Canada.
