Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven’s goal was named the best of all those scored on Tuesday, 4 November, in the Champions League matches.
The Dutchman scored London’s third goal in the match against Copenhagen. At that point, the hosts were down to ten men, but van de Ven made it 3-0 in the 64th minute, effectively sealing the victory.
The episode was truly spectacular: the defender started the attack near his own penalty area, passed through several opponents and, entering the Danish club’s penalty area, accurately shot into the near corner.

After the final whistle, Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank was asked if he had ever seen a better goal from a defender. The coach did not hide his emotions: “I need to think about it a little, but it seems that today we saw
Lionel Messi transform into Miki van de Ven. He ran the length of the pitch and scored an incredible goal,” the club’s official website quoted the coach as saying.
For van de Ven, this goal was his third of the season, and he shares the team’s scoring lead with Richarlison.
Despite playing with one man down for the last 35 minutes, Tottenham secured a confident 4-0 victory over Copenhagen and currently sits seventh in the Champions League group stage standings.
As a reminder, UEFA has named the best goal of the 2024/25 Champions League season.
