The Ukrainian women’s national football team has learned who its opponents will be in the qualifying round of the 2027 World Cup. According to the results of the draw, the Ukrainian team, which rose to Division A after the previous cycle, was placed in Group A3. Its opponents will be the national teams of Spain, England and Iceland – some of the strongest teams in European football.

The qualifiers will be held under a new system, similar to the Nations League format. The winners of the Division A groups will receive direct tickets to the World Cup, while the rest of the teams will compete in play-offs for the right to participate in the tournament. Thus, for the Ukrainian women, the path to the final stage of the World Cup lies through extremely difficult tests, as each game in the group will be decisive.

Group A3 is considered one of the most difficult: Spain is the reigning world champion, England is the finalist of the last Euro, and Iceland traditionally demonstrates strong and organised play. For the Ukrainian national team, this will not only be a serious challenge, but also an opportunity to test their potential against the continent’s strongest rivals.

The qualifying stage will start in the spring of 2026 and will last until the summer, after which the best teams will advance to the playoffs. The Ukrainian national team enters this cycle with the determination to demonstrate the progress it has made in recent years and prove that it can compete at the highest level.

Despite the difficulty of the draw, the team remains in fighting spirit and is determined to fight for every point. For Ukrainian women’s football, this qualifying round could be an important step in its development – a chance to make a name for itself on the international stage and lay the foundations for future success.

We would like to remind you that an incredible goal was scored in Ukraine in the history of the football championship without a single touch.
