Oleksiy Sereda won the bronze medal in the 10-metre platform diving competition. Ukraine managed to win its first medal of the World Cup season in diving.
Sereda was the leader after half of the competition rounds, but lost this status after the fourth jump. As a result, the Ukrainian became a bronze medallist, but was only 0.05 points ahead of Australian Cassiel Russo.
The next start for the Ukrainian national diving team will be the World Cup Super Final, which will take place from 2 to 4 May in Beijing.
World Cup in Windhoek – how the diving final went
Ukrainian Oleksiy Sereda won a bronze medal in the 10-metre platform diving event, the first medal of the World Diving Championships
A total of 12 diving competitors from the 10-metre platform competed for a World Cup medal in the decisive round.
The Ukrainian spent the first half of the competition on the intermediate first place in the standings. The second jump was his most successful in the first half: he scored 88.80 points for the attempt with a 3.7 coefficient.
Oleksiy Sereda lost the lead with his fourth jump, which had a difficulty of 3.6 points. The Ukrainian scored 55.8 points, which was the 11th best result in the round, dropping him to fourth place.
Nevertheless, the Ukrainian showed the best result among all the athletes in the last jump, scoring 91.8, which eventually allowed him to move up to third place. After the final attempt, Sereda’s advantage over the fourth position, which was held by the Australian team’s Cassiel Russo, was 0.05 points.

This is Ukraine’s first medal in the World Diving Championships. The last time the Ukrainian team won an award at this level was in last year’s super final: Ksenia Bailo and Sofia Lyskun managed to win in the women’s synchronised diving.
