Career

Bayern Munich midfielder Thomas Muller has played his entire career for the club. He joined Bayern Munich in July 2008 from Bayern Munich II, for whom he played three matches, scoring one goal.

At the age of 18 years and 336 days, on 15 August 2008, Muller made his league debut in a match against Hamburg. In total, he made 496 appearances in his Bundesliga career, scoring 150 goals and providing 179 assists.

It wasn’t until Louis van Gaal took over the Munich team in the summer of 2009 that Müller became an integral part of the team. In his first season, he scored 19 goals in 52 competitive matches and was instrumental in winning the German league and the DFB Cup.

Under Pep Guardiola, Muller made more substitute appearances in 2013/14 than in previous years, but was able to increase his goal tally even further. He scored a total of 26 goals in all competitions and helped to break last year’s record for the very first Bundesliga championship. Muller scored eight goals in the DFB Cup. Although Bayern failed to defend its Champions League title, the team won two more titles during the season: The UEFA Super Cup with Chelsea and the 2013 FIFA Club World Cup final with Raja Casablanca.

The 2014 World Cup in Brazil turned out to be a triumph for him, as well as for the entire German national football team. The memory of the match against Brazil, which ended with a 7-1 victory, is worthy of mention.

In Bayern’s club history, no one can beat him when it comes to assists. Müller has now provided 239 assists, with Franck Ribery in second place with 162 goals. He now shares the German record of 150 Champions League games with Toni Kroos.

Stable play, perfect fitness and no injuries allowed Thomas Muller to take part in Euro 24. At the home European Championships, the team had no problems in the group stage, but was eliminated in the quarter-finals by Spain.

Personal life

Thomas and Lisa Muller have been married since 2009; the couple have no children. In 2023, the couple caused a sensation. Lisa Mueller deleted all posts with her husband on Instagram and even stopped following Muller. Speculation about problems in the relationship continues to this day.

The footballer has his own stable in Otterfing (Upper Bavaria) and a luxury property nearby. He finds relaxation and passion in the world of horses.

Muller not only owns them, he breeds them and often publishes photos with the animals. He shares his love for the animal kingdom with his wife.

Interesting facts

The footballer has the nickname ‘Radio Mueller’, which he received in the early years of his career. The reason for this is simple – he is very sociable and loves to joke.

Muller himself actively gives nicknames to his colleagues. For example, Robert Lewandowski became Lewangoalski.
