Thomas Muller will no longer have a contract with Bayern Munich. The German club wanted to retain the 35-year-old in another role and is keeping all doors open for him.

According to Kicker, sporting director Max Eberl and the player’s representatives had already had a conversation about two weeks ago, during which Muller was informed of the club’s decision. According to reports, Muller would like to stay for another season.

In 23 Bundesliga matches this season, the 35-year-old has made just eight appearances, often playing just a few minutes, such as in the 3-2 win over St Pauli. His goalscoring record includes one goal and five assists. In the Champions League, he made just three starts in ten matches, scoring against Shakhtar and Slovan and providing one assist.

Thomas Müller’s farewell match is fixed in his contract.

For Bayern Munich, the question now is how to say goodbye to the player in a fitting way. The player, who, in addition to the World Cup title, has won the Champions League twice, holds the record among players with twelve titles, but, surprisingly, has never been named German Footballer of the Year.

It is still unclear whether and where Muller will continue his career, for example, whether he will like MLS in the United States. On the other hand, FC Bayern Munich is understandably very interested in attracting Muller to another role after his retirement, seeing him as an ideal representative of the club. All doors are open to him at the Seebenstrasse.

He has also been one of the main players on the pitch for the past 17 years. Müller made his Bundesliga debut in 2008 under coach Jürgen Klinsmann, and a year later he made his breakthrough under Louis van Gaal. However, as a player, he will only play until the end of the season and possibly until the Club World Cup.
