Both teams are looking to win their first UEFA Champions League title and will play at the Weltins Arena on Wednesday, 6 November.

Shakhtar Donetsk

The Ukrainian club can boast of victories against Swiss teams. Shakhtar are not in a very favourable position when they have to play outside Ukraine due to Russian attacks, but in Germany, the team is performing quite well.

They have won three of their five UEFA home games in Hamburg or Gelsenkirchen since the start of last season. That was undermined by a humiliating 0-3 defeat to Atalanta in the second of three games without a win, prompting coach Marino Pusic to call on fans to come to the Auf Schalke Arena to show their support.

Artem Bondarenko boasts a near-perfect record in games in which he has scored a goal in any competition since the start of last season, and has helped Shakhtar to two league victories since their last meeting on the continent.

In their last match, Shakhtar suffered a 1-0 defeat away to Arsenal.

Young Boys

Young Boys are one of six clubs that will start fourth after Shakhtar in the 36-team standings, as they have suffered three defeats. The team has had very poor results in both the Champions League and the Swiss league.

Filip Ugrinic became the only Young Boys player to score a goal in three league games after the defeat to Inter Milan in the last round of the Champions League.

Young Boys have not scored a goal before halftime in any of their last eight matches. The team won the last meeting between the clubs, winning 2-0 in the Champions League 3rd qualifying round match at the Wankdorf Stadium in August 2016.

Shakhtar vs Young Boys match prediction

Both teams are in the midst of a scoring slump in the Champions League, as they have yet to find the back of the net this season.

The Ukrainians still have a higher chance of winning.

Earlier in the Champions League Real Madrid defeated AC Milan.
