On 25 May, the hosts of the tournament, the Czech Republic, will play the Swedish national team in the first of two semi-final matches of the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. Both teams are eager to win the competition and have high offensive efficiency.

Swedish national ice hockey team

Sweden comes into the game with an unblemished record of eight straight wins. The Scandinavians have been very effective.

Filip Gustavsson ranks first in terms of save percentage and goals against average (1.37) among all goaltenders. Sweden’s defence also leads all teams in the tournament. The defence line has conceded only 10 goals in eight games, and Trekrunur have not conceded a single power play goal yet.

The Swedes showed a particularly interesting game in the match against France.

Czech national ice hockey team

The Czech Republic is averaging 3.38 goals per game in the tournament, but has scored a total of five goals against strong opponents Finland (1-0), Canada (4-3 OTL) and the USA (1-0).

The Czech Republic defeated the United States 1-0, and Sweden defeated Finland 2-1 in overtime. Strong defence was a common feature for both teams throughout the tournament.

Earlier, the Czechs played quite successfully against Canada. The team still lost in overtime.

Sweden vs Czech prediction

Sweden is the obvious favourite in the match. The team is able to win in regular time. The Czechs can fight, but it is unlikely that the Europeans will be enough for the whole match.
